Tumaini Georgia Benevolent is a voluntary nonprofit membership organization registered with the Secretary of State of Georgia. We are established to provide mutual aid, emotional support, and benevolent financial assistance to members who experience the death of an eligible family member, whether in the United States, Kenya, or elsewhere.
Our name says it all. Tumaini means hope in Swahili, and hope is exactly what we offer one another when loss arrives. We are a community bound not by obligation, but by genuine care for each other.
Tumaini Georgia Benevolent was founded by Kenyan immigrants in Georgia to provide reliable financial support to members when death occurs. Rooted in the harambee tradition of coming together for a common cause, informal community fundraising — while meaningful — has often proven unpredictable and insufficient.
By providing a predetermined benefit amount for qualifying losses, Tumaini offers dependable financial support for burial and related expenses, extending coverage beyond the nuclear family to include parents and siblings.
We exist to provide timely and reliable financial assistance to members experiencing the loss of an eligible family member, while fostering a culture of mutual support, accountability, and unity among Kenyans in Georgia. Every member joins knowing that when the moment comes, this community will show up — with certainty, not charity.
